Be Nice - Just Because…free Myspace, Facebook, Forum Graphic

By simplesahm | June 7, 2008

I have two preschoolers.

I find myself constantly saying, be nice….why?

Just because!

Yes, I know it is simplistic, but frankly - in today’s chaotic world - simplicity speaks volumes.

Need a reminder? Want to give a reminder?

Feel free to share my latest graphic on your favorite social networking site or public forum or grab a T - pictured below….

Don’t we all need a little reminder to be nice sometimes?

Fresh, Modern & Fun - Skinny Mini Playdate, Business or Mommy Calling Cards

By simplesahm | June 5, 2008

I spent Memorial Day hanging out with adults. Yes - *just* adults. It was wonderful. We ate a little, drank a little…and of course, we talked about our kids. =)

I was especially excited to meet a fellow artist….I am a graphic designer - and she paints.  “Ooohhh you are a *real* artist, I squealed…teach me!”

So - we exchanged numbers. She gave me a beautiful business card complete with her website, contact information and a lovely painting on the front whereas I scrambled to find a piece of napkin that wasn’t soaked in BBQ sauce to write my number on.

As a result of my embarrassing first playdate impression…I decided to create my own “mommy card” if you will.

These are small enough to fit in your pocket (about the size of a lipstick)…and large enough to add all of the pertinent information. The come with a cute little dispenser too. I am going to use the first one…but I thought I’d create a few others just for fun. These have a fun backside too….

Enjoy!

Taking a Break this Summer….

By simplesahm | May 22, 2008

My kids just finished preschool and I am enjoying spending additional time with them before my daughter starts Kindergarten in the fall.  As a result, I will be using the summer break to focus on my personal blogs and websites (which have been horribly neglected)…and my kids - who haven’t. =)

If you are looking for design work you are welcome to contact me.  While I can’t guarantee that I will be able to accept your request…I will be happy to refer you to other designers that I network with. In the meantime, check out a few more of my personal site makeovers… (directsalesdirectory.net, discountorganicbaby.com, everythingbirthdaycakes.com

PhpBay Review: Add Ebay Auctions to Your Blog / Website with PhpBay Pro

By simplesahm | May 8, 2008

Before I started designing sites and banners for my customers I had at least a half-dozen blogs of my own that I designed and authored.   Once my design business took off…my personal sites and blogs were neglected a bit.

Not anymore!  This week I purchased a Wordpress Plug-in for $49.00 that allows me to Add Ebay Auctions to My Website.  To be honest with you, I was a bit hesitant at first.  I don’t have a lot of free time and certainly didn’t want to spend what little time I have playing with code and uploading scripts.

At the same time, I did not want to see the blogs that I put so much effort into fall by the wayside.

So, I gave PhpBay Pro a try.  Within a few hours, I was able to turn my Simple SAHM.com wordpress blog into a complete online store.  An hour or so later, I turned my Super Dooper Cute blog into an online boutique.

I am still able to post blog entries on the sites and I can add videos, affiliate advertising and everything else I was doing when I was a full-time blogger.

I am so excited about the plug-in that I plan to create stores out of an additional 10 domain names I purchased.  (Some girls buy shoes…I buy domains!) =)

One more thing…

Many of you are probably wondering what the difference is between PhpBay and BANS (Build a Niche Store).  While I am certainly not an expert I have a few observations I’d like to share…

I prefer BANS for my stand-alone sites (ie: everythingbirthdaycakes.com & craftkits2go.com).  The script is *very* simple to use and is perfect for someone who may be less familiar with site design and blogging. For a more seasoned blogger / designer BANS is a bit more limited in terms of adding content and template design.

If you are a Wordpress user already, PhpBay is an easy-to-use addition to your current content.   Also PhpBAY sells for $49.00 which is a little less painful on the pocketbook than BANS which currently retails for $97.

If you’d like to see the plugin in action check out my newly remodeled sites below.

Drop me a line in the comments section if you have any questions!
